This project examined Internet connectivity in California, in order to identify areas that lack affordable wireline service. The goal was to find areas that could benefit from 5G fixed-wireless service, which is becoming more economical and reliable.

Riviana Foods

Summer Intern

Editing data for material requirement planning (MRP), also similar to my tasks. Credit: SAP Training HQ.

In the summers of 2016 and 2017, I interned with Riviana Foods in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Most of my role consisted of working with various SAP tools, including enterprise resource planning (ERP), material requirements planning (MRP), and updating material master information. Other tasks included using Microsoft Excel to update and manipulate data in bulk, and automating some tasks using Visual Basic scripts. This information was then added to the master database, and used by the company in North America and Europe.

Derry Township School District

Technical Specialist Intern

During high school, I was a summer intern at my school district’s IT department. The internship lasted approximately ten weeks per summer, in the summers of 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Software tasks that I completed included:

  • Imaging large volumes of PCs, primarily using Clonezilla Server, and occasionally using Norton Ghost and the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.
  • Managing Windows systems with Active Directory, activating PCs in lots using batch files and volume licensing using MAK activation.
  • Securing the computers using Faronics Deep Freeze and the LANDESK security suite.

In addition, I became comfortable with wired and wireless networking, including:

  • Setting up Ethernet switches, both managed (smart) and unmanaged.
  • Running ethernet cable, and wiring RJ-45 ports.
  • Deploying access points after determining optimal positions.
